The Wall Street Journal, citing sources in the U.S. government, reported that the U.S. president told associates that he expects American bombing operations against Iran to continue throughout November, after the midterm elections in the United States.
Tehran’s proposal to reopen the strait was presented to Washington as a “specific” seven-day plan. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced this during his participation in the United Nations General Assembly.
“If the necessary conditions are met, the strait can be reopened and the flow of ships can resume within seven days. The choice now belongs to the United States,” Araghchi said.
According to the Iranian foreign minister, Tehran’s demands of the United States do not constitute a new initiative, as they are included in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that the two sides signed in June.
