Alliance deputy leader Besnik Tahiri said that Kosovo’s prime minister and the leader of the LVV, Albin Kurti, had not shown any willingness to reach an agreement on the election of the president.

Speaking on the “Interview of the Week” program on kp, Tahiri said that the Alliance did not consider a meeting with Kurti necessary, as it had still not received a response to the six demands it had presented, including the issue of American gas.
According to him, the discussions held so far regarding the post of president had served more for public consumption than for reaching a solution.
The deadline for electing the president expires on October 6. If no agreement is reached by then, Kosovo will go to new elections, which must be held no later than November 15.
Tahiri stressed that the Alliance was not seeking to join the government and that there was no reason to hold a meeting with Kurti on this issue as long as its six points had not received a response.
He said that a candidate for president had already been proposed, but had not secured the necessary support. According to Tahiri, when there is political will, a way to find a solution can always be found, while a lack of will becomes apparent when the process turns into an attempt to deceive the parties.
Asked whether a joint candidate of the PDK, LDK and the Alliance could receive support following the conviction of former KLA leaders by the Specialist Chambers, Tahiri said that the decision on the profile and leader Kosovo needs rests with the opposition parties.
He said that Ramush Haradinaj was the candidate and leading figure that Kosovo and the region would need under the current circumstances.
Tahiri said that Haradinaj did not need the post and that his support was not linked to any personal interest. According to him, Haradinaj would do the country an honor as president, as he had not harmed Kosovo during the post-war period.
He also mentioned that Haradinaj had spent seven years in prison and that, despite the difficulties he faced while governing because of the small number of lawmakers, he left Kosovo with an army and progress on other issues. According to Tahiri, in the current situation he could bring the parties closer together.
The Alliance deputy leader said that his political entity was ready for new elections in November.
“The Alliance,” Tahiri said, “has proven that even in the most difficult situation it can secure not only six, but seven lawmakers.” He added that in the next elections the party would not double or triple its representation, but would appear consolidated and with clear positions on all issues.
On December 28, lawmakers are expected to convene for the first plenary session of the eleventh legislature.
A declaration against the conviction of the KLA quartet is also expected to be voted on at this session.
Tahiri said that the declaration would have no legal effect, but would produce political consequences and oblige the government to act. He stressed that the text must be agreed upon by all parliamentary groups and that the final version should be awaited.
According to him, the absence of an institutional and state position creates room for speculation and conspiracy theories by those who oppose their position. He said that Facebook statements and videos were not enough, as a written and voted position was needed.
Tahiri stressed that, after September 16, the four former KLA leaders did not need pity, but state action by the Assembly and the Government regarding the process before them, namely the appeal.
He called on the government to return the legal amendments concerning the Specialist Chambers to the Assembly no later than next week.
Tahiri said that this issue should not be used as a political cause or to win votes, adding that the purpose of the legal amendments was to create several provisions that would assist the process.
He said that he had also raised this issue in the Presidency and that there was no reason to wait 30 days for the law to be returned. According to him, if there were objections or a need for consultations, they could be discussed with the parties that had drafted the text.
“The government,” Tahiri said, “should have returned the law to the Assembly by Monday at the latest, so that the procedure could be completed as soon as possible.”
