A serious crime has shaken Turin, where the dismembered body of 39-year-old Fabio Colapietro, a resident of Chivasso, was found in an apartment on the northern outskirts of the city. Twenty-six-year-old Christian Matheus De Oliveira Morando was detained in connection with the case. During questioning by the judge, he admitted that he had killed Colapietro but said he had not done so intentionally.

“I killed him, but it was accidental. It certainly was not planned,” the 26-year-old reportedly told the judge.
According to his testimony, the confrontation began after a dispute over money. The incident is suspected to have occurred after several days during which alcohol and drugs had been consumed in the apartment.
Investigators are examining the possibility that the murder took place during a party where various drugs had been used. The suspect’s lawyer mentioned MDPHP, crack, LSD, hallucinogenic mushrooms and cannabis, as well as strong alcoholic drinks.
The lawyer described his client as “confused” and said that “he could not have done everything alone.”
According to the version recounted by the suspect, the following day he woke up after hearing that Colapietro might have taken around 50 euros from him. A physical altercation then broke out, during which, according to the lawyer, those present struggled and the 39-year-old fell to the floor, where he died.
Asked whether he had grabbed the victim by the neck, the 26-year-old replied that he did not remember. The defense said that after the incident, attempts were made to revive him for around two hours through mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and cardiac massage.
As part of the investigation, Nicole Formichetti, 47, a teacher and the apartment’s tenant, and 22-year-old Keith Butig were also questioned. Both are suspected of aiding and abetting and of helping conceal the body.
Formichetti chose not to answer the judge’s questions. Her lawyers explained that she was not in a condition to testify and that questioning could take place at a later stage.
Butig, a transgender woman, denied any involvement in the murder. According to her lawyer, she had been at the party and had bought the black bags, but had not taken part in the subsequent actions. The defense claims that she was in a severely impaired state and had isolated herself in a room.
A decision by the judge on whether to confirm the detentions is now awaited, while the authorities continue working to clarify all the circumstances of the murder and determine the role of each person involved.
