Bulgarian MEP Kristian Vigenin has attacked North Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, blaming him for obstructing constitutional amendments and causing delays on the country’s path toward European integration.

According to Vigenin, the refusal to implement the amendments providing for the inclusion of Bulgarians in the Constitution constitutes “the greatest betrayal” Mickoski is committing against the country.
The MEP recalled that the agreement reached with the EU in 2022 defines the adoption of these amendments as a condition for advancing to the next stage of negotiations.
During his statement, Vigenin also mentioned the case of Iva Mihajlova, which he described as a humanitarian issue. He claimed that the lack of a solution from the Macedonian authorities is deepening tensions between Skopje and Sofia.
Vigenin stressed that relations and trust between the two countries can be strengthened only by fulfilling the agreed obligations, rather than through an exchange of accusations.
