Ramazan Bekteshi has launched strong criticism at Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama, accusing him of using the Kosovo issue and the name of former President Hashim Thaçi for political interests, while also attacking his stance toward former US President Joe Biden during the visit to New York.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Bekteshi describes Rama as an autocrat who is not satisfied with subjugating Albania and ignoring Kosovo, but is now engaging in global politics to damage the country’s international prestige. According to him, Rama does not lecture but “barks furiously and quarrels” at the UN, in meetings and on television programs, targeting Joe Biden, a great friend of Kosovo and Albanians, who is now seriously ill.
Bekteshi recalls that, at the height of the war in Kosovo, Biden co-sponsored with Senator John McCain S.J. Res. 20, which called for the use of all necessary means to achieve NATO’s objectives in Kosovo, including the possibility of deploying ground troops. On April 20, 1999, Biden declared that Kosovo was not only a European issue but also an American issue, and used the term “Kosovar Albanians” instead of simply “Kosovars” or “Kosovans.”
Bekteshi further accuses Rama of making an incredible slander at the KMSHA dinner in New York, claiming that Biden had “betrayed” Thaçi, as though the former president were responsible for his still-unfinalized conviction. He stresses that Biden not only did not betray him, but gave Thaçi the epithet “George Washington of Kosovo,” although Bekteshi believes the title is more fitting for Ibrahim Rugova.
Bekteshi also says that Rama forgot the energy his friend Soros invested in bringing him closer to the Democrats and the White House, while now disgracing Biden’s name in difficult times and appearing to seek favor with Trump. He links this to Rama’s relationship with Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and Affinity Partners’ tourism projects in Sazan and Zvërnec, which are protected by his government despite environmental protests.
He recalls that the same Rama called Donald Trump “the shame of civilization” on CNN in 2016 and portrayed him as a threat to America and Albanian-American relations. According to him, Rama’s double-standard game has gone beyond “intelligent” politics, and he is heading toward the trap he once created for others.
Regarding former SHISH director Vlora Hyseni, Bekteshi calls on SPAK to investigate how SHISH concealed the report received from Kosovo about her, how a falsified report was fabricated while the original is in the archive, and how she was granted a security clearance even though the prime minister and president had been informed of the forgery. He adds that they nominated and appointed her even though she had been dismissed from Kosovo’s KIA by the president for violations, and asks how Rama later took her into his fold by falsifying the KIA’s official report.
Bekteshi also demands answers about the theft of data in 2022, the hacking of SPAK data and the silence surrounding the scheme involving FBI agent Charles McGonigal, whom Rama used against political rivals. He stresses that these are not rhetorical questions but matters requiring investigation and institutional accountability.
Bekteshi further accuses Rama of invoking Thaçi’s and Kosovo’s names as a personal shield whenever things become difficult for him in Albania, but now “VH, alias ‘Mata Hari’ from Kosovo, set fire to the fortress of all of Rama’s projects.” He adds that Rama turns domestic criticism into a “conspiracy” and his opponent into an “instrument of foreigners,” while presenting himself abroad as a guarantor of stability.
Regarding his latest speech at the UN, Bekteshi says Rama sold the nations morality, using the “desert” as a metaphor for the UN, where messages are preached but not heard and words produce no action. He acknowledges that criticism of the dysfunction of international institutions is valid, but says the paradox lies in the speaker’s authority: Rama speaks about mass manipulation, algorithms and propaganda while the hall was empty. Bekteshi concludes that Rama tries to teach nations lessons while having turned his own country into a hopeless desert, continually abandoned by its young people, and that in a normal state he would have to end up in prison along with many associates.
