Gashani: The €60 million loan supports “Prishtina 2030” and sports infrastructure

Minister of Sport and Youth Blerim Gashani welcomed the decision by the Assembly of Kosovo to ratify the loan agreement with the French Development Agency, worth €60 million. The financing is linked to the 21st Mediterranean Games project in Kosovo.

In a statement on social media, Gashani described the vote as an important step toward implementing the “Prishtina 2030” project and improving sports infrastructure in the country.

“Today, the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo approved the draft law on ratifying the loan agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the French Development Agency, which will finance the 21st Mediterranean Games project in Kosovo.

This is an important step toward implementing this major project and advancing sports infrastructure in Kosovo.

Thank you to all the members of parliament for their support and vote!” Gashani said.

The agreement was approved by the Assembly with 95 votes in favor, no votes against and no abstentions. The €60 million in funds will be used to renovate and expand the student campus of the University of Prishtina. During the Mediterranean Games, the campus will be used as the athletes’ village, while the surrounding sports facilities will serve as training centers.

The ratified document also enables the securing of a €10 million investment grant. As a result, the total planned investment will amount to €70 million.
