PDK Chairman Bedri Hamza said that the constitutionally निर्धारित deadlines for the constitution of the Assembly had not been followed. According to him, this is also linked to the lack of concrete steps toward electing the president.

Speaking to reporters, Hamza criticized the lack of political agreement on the presidential post, stressing that since August 7, no serious and concrete effort had been made to resolve the issue.
He thanked the lawmakers who supported the declaration on the KLA, while emphasizing that defending the war for freedom and independence should not remain the sole responsibility of the PDK.
“A political declaration! I am grateful and I thank all the lawmakers who voted in favor of the declaration on the KLA. I believe that the PDK should not be the only one speaking about a just war imposed for freedom and independence,” Hamza said.
Referring to the Assembly’s declaration on the judgment of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague, the PDK leader said that this issue should not be used for political interests.
Hamza said that the law should guarantee that proceedings in The Hague are conducted fairly.
“The law demands and seeks justice for the people involved in this process. They are not there for their post-war actions, nor are they there as members or leaders of any political entity. They are there as the brightest part of our history—not for organ trafficking, nor for anything else,” he declared.
According to him, the legal amendments are intended to give the Specialist Chambers the opportunity to issue fair decisions and produce fair results.
He warned that failure to approve the law in both readings, followed by the country going to elections, would return the entire process to its starting point.
“If the law is not approved in both readings, ultimately it produces no legal effect. If the law is not finalized and the country goes to elections, it returns to the starting point. I can count as many steps as you want. We can count the fact that I met with all the political parties about this law; we have received no benefit,” Hamza said.
Hamza also opposed linking the approval of this law to the election of the president, saying that the two processes should not be made conditional on each other.
The PDK leader called for the amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers to be considered as a separate issue, without being linked to the political process of electing Kosovo’s president.
