In the early hours of October 6, the Carabinieri of the Turin Provincial Command arrested the two suspects: a 45-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man. Both are in prison under the security measure imposed on them, as they are suspected of involvement in Rroku’s killing.

According to investigators’ account, the plan to kill him had begun taking shape as early as May. The couple allegedly considered several ways to eliminate the 55-year-old, including poisoning and the use of a knife, before deciding on the final method of attack.

The killing is believed to have taken place on June 30, in Rroku’s apartment on Via Verolengo, in Turin’s Lucento district. Reconstruction of the incident indicates that he may have been attacked from behind and that the blows continued even after he had fallen to the floor. The forensic examination found severe head injuries caused by a blunt object.

The body was discovered on July 6, six days after the suspected date of the killing. The 55-year-old was found in his apartment, on the second floor of a social housing building, in an advanced state of decomposition. Neighbors alerted the authorities after noticing a strong odor coming from the residence.

At first, it was unclear how the death had occurred, but the injuries to the head led investigators to suspect murder. The investigation was assigned to the Turin Carabinieri Investigation Unit, under the direction of the Turin Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspicion surrounding the couple has also grown because of their actions after the crime. According to the authorities, they had sought information about the possibility of leaving Italy and emigrating to North American countries, including states that do not have extradition agreements with Italy.

Investigators regard these searches as a possible sign that the suspects had anticipated fleeing after the killing. Work is continuing to clarify the specific role of the woman and her partner in organizing and carrying out the killing of Mikel Rroku.
