Petrit Malaj: Albanians in North Macedonia are the link between the two countries

Protecting the rights of Albanians, respecting the Ohrid Agreement and deepening cooperation between the two countries will be among the main priorities of his upcoming term.

Albania’s ambassador to North Macedonia, Petrit Malaj, presented to the Committee on Europe and Foreign Affairs the objectives that will guide his diplomatic engagement going forward.

During his presentation, Malaj stated that his work would be based on active, concrete and institutional diplomacy, focused on strengthening friendly relations between Albania and North Macedonia, as well as guaranteeing the rights of the Albanians living there.

He pointed out that implementing the Ohrid Framework Agreement and meeting European standards would be important guidelines for his diplomatic mission.

According to the ambassador, the Albanians of North Macedonia play an important role as a bridge between Albania and North Macedonia, contributing to the region’s stability, coexistence and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Malaj also expressed his gratitude to Kosovo, with which, as he said, he had built a special relationship on both a professional and personal level.

The diplomat stressed that Kosovo would continue to hold an important place in his life, while the fraternal relations and friendships he had formed would accompany him during the next stages of his diplomatic career.
