Speaking with citizens on social media, Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha reacted to the approval of the new territorial map with 85 votes, accusing majority MPs of criminal interests and political blackmail.

The DP leader rejected the arguments made by majority MPs regarding the number of residents who would be represented by the new local government units.

“You heard the crime-tainted MPs, who have nothing but criminal interests, deceiving people by claiming that we had established one municipality for 13,000 residents. Sukth, Manza and Ishëm have 105,000 residents, but they have been eliminated. With our map, they all existed. What remains indelibly etched in the citizens’ memory is how these crime-tainted MPs, held hostage by their villas and businesses, lined up one after another, were humiliated and blackmailed, and in the end voted for their godfather,” Berisha said.

He warned that the DP would use all legal means to challenge the decision.

“The DP will pursue all legal avenues, but warns that in a narco-state, the legal route is a sham. The narco-government does not allow referendums; nevertheless, we will use every legal means against this act,” the Democratic leader declared.
