Kakavija/ Search uncovers pistol and 141 grams of cannabis, 51-year-old German woman arrested

A 51-year-old German citizen was arrested at the Kakavija border crossing after a pistol with ammunition and 141 grams of suspected cannabis were found in the vehicle she was driving.

The operation, codenamed “Risku 2,” was carried out by Border Police officers in cooperation with customs authorities and the Narcotics Investigation Section of the Gjirokastër Local Police Directorate. The vehicle, together with the caravan, driven by the German citizen A. S., was initially checked on a scanner and was then subjected to a thorough inspection in the second line, upon exiting the border crossing.

During the detailed inspection, police found a pistol with a cylinder and the corresponding ammunition. Suspected Cannabis Sativa was also discovered in six jars and three airtight bags, with a total weight of approximately 141 grams.

Following the initial investigative actions, specialists from the Narcotics Investigation Section of the Gjirokastër Local Police Directorate arrested A. S., 51, in flagrante delicto. She had been driving the vehicle.

The pistol with a cylinder, ammunition, 141 grams of suspected Cannabis Sativa, the vehicle together with the caravan, and a mobile phone were seized as material evidence.

The procedural materials will be referred to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Gjirokastër Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction for further action in connection with the criminal offenses of “Trafficking in narcotics” and “Trafficking in weapons and ammunition.”
