The MIA said four of them were driving without having passed their driving test, while two were found driving under the influence of alcohol. A 21-year-old from Skopje had a blood alcohol level of 1.99 parts per thousand, while a 67-year-old from Shtip registered 1.77 parts per thousand.

Three other people were caught behind the wheel despite active driving bans against them. In Negotino, police also stopped a minor who was riding a motorcycle without a driver’s license; the vehicle was also found to be unregistered.

According to the MIA, once the cases have been documented, the relevant criminal complaints will be filed against those involved.

Police called on citizens to obey traffic rules and not to drive without a license, under the influence of alcohol, or while subject to active driving bans, in order to help improve road safety.
