According to Arbërie Nagavci, head of the parliamentary group of the Vetëvendosje Movement, the agenda will also include the draft law on Kosovo’s membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
Nagavci said that lawmakers will vote on the selection of two members of the Non-Executive Board of the Central Bank of Kosovo. Committees responsible for selecting members of the RTK Board are also expected to be established.
She announced that the session will also review, in its second reading, the draft law on preventing and combating money laundering and combating terrorism.
Vlora Çitaku, deputy speaker of the Assembly from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, said that the Presidency had also discussed the parliamentary diplomacy agenda.
Çitaku said that, for the PDK and the Assembly of Kosovo, two issues were of particular importance in this regard: the appeal process in The Hague and Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe.
Meanwhile, Besnik Tahiri, head of the parliamentary group of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, expressed concern about the large number of draft laws that must be adopted during the year.
According to him, the legislative agenda contains more than 60 laws, so the Assembly must exercise particular care in reviewing and adopting them.
Tahiri also said that the Assembly must fulfill the state commitment to support former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army. He stressed that this issue should not be handled hastily, but with care.
“The main concern we have raised as a group is the accumulation of the legislative agenda, since more than 60 laws must be adopted by the end of this year. It is difficult for such a number of laws to provide strategic direction in such a short period. This is a fundamental issue that must be addressed in the Assembly. The Assembly has approved a state commitment to help defend the liberation fighters, but this process cannot be carried out in haste; it must be conducted with great care,” Tahiri said.
Thursday’s session will be the first plenary meeting since the president was elected on October 6.
