The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has categorically ruled out the possibility of his departure from politics, declaring that such a decision would only serve to strengthen Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Asked whether he would be willing to take the first step and step down from leading the opposition, Berisha responded firmly that this would never happen, calling the demand absurd.

According to him, leaving politics would mean strengthening Rama, while he accused those calling for his withdrawal of being supporters of the prime minister.
Berisha also rejected comparisons between him and Rama, declaring that today a real opposition exists in Albania.
“This will never happen, it is absurd. It would mean strengthening Edi Rama and leaving his black hand free. Rama’s bootlickers and hand-kissers say that. Comparing the two of us is like comparing day and night. Now there is a real opposition,” he said.
