Today, 37-year-old Maridon Dhuli died in Trauma Hospital after suffering severe burns last evening when the vehicle he was traveling in caught fire on the Kardhiq–Delvinë road.
The incident occurred at a place called “Skërficë”, where a Volkswagen Touran caught fire while moving.

The driver suffered severe burns from the fire. Passersby initially came to his aid; one of them, a citizen from Saranda who was coming from Tirana, managed to extinguish the flames on the 37-year-old’s body by throwing his own jacket over him, and also notified the hospital and road traffic services.
After first aid at the Saranda emergency department, the 37-year-old was transported by ambulance to Tirana for more specialized care after suffering third-degree burns, but unfortunately he could not survive. Firefighters were needed to put out the fire. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
