Vjosa Osmani, Kosovo’s former president, has highlighted the importance of the independence of the Constitutional Court, stressing that it must not be influenced either by politics or by the interests of those in power, but must independently uphold the Constitution.
In a Facebook post marking the 17th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Osmani emphasized that democracy is legitimized through an independent judiciary and respect for the constitutional order.

According to her, the Constitutional Court should be neither an extension of politics nor a hostage to the interests of those in power, but an independent guardian of the Constitution.
She added that justice must serve the Constitution, the state and the interests of citizens, without submitting to political influence.
Osmani also stated that the legitimacy of democracy rests on a justice system that does not obey politics, but serves only the Constitution, the state and the public interest.
The Constitutional Court is the body that guarantees respect for the Constitution and reviews constitutional matters in accordance with the powers defined by the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.
