The service is available on the vehicle tax calculator page. To obtain the calculation, users must select the type of vehicle and fuel, as well as enter the engine capacity and year of manufacture. For the relevant categories, they must also provide the vehicle’s weight or the information determining whether it is classified as a luxury vehicle.
The calculator compares the tax under the current system with the tax proposed for 2027, along with an explanation of how the calculation is made. It covers passenger cars, motorcycles, mixed-transport vehicles, trucks, vans, buses, trailers and semi-trailers, as well as electric vehicles.
Can fuel savings cover the tax increase?
In addition to calculating the annual obligation, the service also provides a comparison of the potential impact of removing the circulation tax on diesel and petrol. By entering the number of kilometres driven during the year and the vehicle’s average fuel consumption, users can assess whether potential fuel savings offset the increase in the annual tax.
This estimate is based on the proposed removal of the tax of 27 lekë per litre, or up to 32.4 lekë including the effect of VAT. The savings remain conditional on the full reduction being passed on to the pump price.

The calculations are indicative and based on the draft law
The changes are expected to take effect on 1 January 2027, if approved by Parliament. The figures may change during the approval process, while the final amount payable will be determined by DPSHTRR.
The calculator does not include insurance, technical inspections, fines, other fees or legal exemptions for certain vehicle categories.
