OBRM-PDUKM: Eurostandard went bankrupt under LSDM rule, while the finance minister withdrew her money five days earlier

OBRM-PDUKM says the banking system in Macedonia is stable and that the responsible institutions are taking the necessary measures to protect depositors, investors and citizens. According to the party, banks such as Eurostandard Bank went bankrupt while LSDM was in power, while officials who were supposed to safeguard citizens’ interests and money acted in their own interests.

As an example, OBRM-PDUKM cites Nina Angelovska, a former finance minister from LSDM. The party claims that, instead of protecting the money of citizens, savers and investors, she made sure to save her own.

According to OBRM-PDUKM, information Angelovska had because of her position enabled her to withdraw 250,000 euros several days before Eurostandard Bank went bankrupt in 2020, while citizens’ savings remained in the bank. The party also raises the issue of the bank’s lack of liquidity, saying it had long issued risky loans to various companies without adequate collateral. According to the party, these included 29 companies from Strumica, among them companies close to Zaev; some did not repay their loans.

OBRM-PDUKM stresses that these events took place while LSDM was in power and accuses the party of failing to act in time to protect citizens’ money. According to OBRM-PDUKM, Zaev’s companies and people close to them benefited the most, while Angelovska managed to safeguard her own money.
