Bomb threats against two passenger planes on Friday prompted authorities to respond and led to changes in flight routes in Portugal and Italy. Both alerts proved false, and the planes landed safely.
The first alert was raised in Lisbon for a plane due to depart for Rome. Portuguese police confirmed that the threat was not genuine.

Another plane, flying from Prague to Rome, was diverted to Venice after a similar threat. Italian news agency ANSA reported that it changed course near Ferrara and landed without incident at Venice airport.
This week, dozens of commercial flights in Europe have faced false bomb alerts. Some planes have been diverted, while others have been escorted by fighter jets.
