The new United States ambassador to Albania, Eric Wendt, has arrived at the Palace of Brigades, where he will meet with President of the Republic Bajram Begaj to present his credentials.
With this ceremony, Wendt officially begins his duties as the US diplomatic representative in Albania, also bringing an end to the nearly three-year period during which Washington did not have an appointed ambassador in Tirana.

Wendt arrived in Albania yesterday, while his appointment to the post came after being nominated by US President Donald Trump and confirmed by the United States Senate on August 6.
The new US ambassador comes to Tirana with a long career in the military and national security fields. He has more than 34 years of service in the US military and has held several leadership positions in the US Special Forces, known as the “Green Berets.”
During his career, Wendt has also held important roles in military and security cooperation, including leading NATO’s Special Operations Command.
