During a meeting with Albanians on Staten Island in New York, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about the Mountain Package and the Zvërnec project, declaring that work on the initiative is continuing. According to him, the project’s potential impact and risks to the environment are currently being analyzed.

“The Mountain Package was created for all those who own property in those areas. No other investor can gain access unless they are your partner and unless you want them to be there. Anyone seeking to cooperate with a partner is welcome.
Transforming the mountains into a source of prosperity is important for Albania’s further development. The aim is to increase the number of visitors from 12 million to 20 million. After that, it will be the responsibility of the young people who take over the baton to push this figure even higher. The current objective is to attract high-income tourists to Albania.
This is precisely what the much-discussed project, which has become famous but also infamous because of lies, manipulation and politics, seeks to achieve—the Zvërnec and Sazan project. This project will bring €4 billion to an economy that totals €27 billion.
For Albania, this is an extraordinary project, but at the same time a delicate one when it comes to environmental balance. For this reason, we are working intensively to measure its impact and identify the real risks, not those produced on social media by manipulators and charlatans. Working days here are accompanied by a little coffee, including that terrible American coffee, unlike in Albania.
Rama thanked those present for their time and for organizing the meeting, while also humorously addressing Xhemo, commenting on his attire.
“Thank you for giving me your time on this day off. I thank Xhemo, who is dressed like an American politician; next to you, I look like a hotel security guard. Thank you very much for organizing this. Alongside you are also several young men from Ulcinj, so I thank you very much.
If the men of Albania have done a lot of foolish things, imagine what they would do if they did not have women. So I thank you as well. Take care of the men and do not pay attention when they act tough, because in reality their hearts tremble when you speak. Thank you very much,” Rama said.
