Shkodra Traffic Police has conducted intensified checks on all roads of the county, aiming to prevent accidents and punish violations of traffic rules.

During one week, 2 citizens were arrested in flagrante for driving vehicles irregularly, while 13 other people have been criminally prosecuted. In the same period, road police units imposed 916 administrative measures for various violations of the Road Code.
Among the measures applied are 31 for improper overtaking, 172 for exceeding speed limits, 8 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 19 for failing to wear a seat belt and 6 for using a mobile phone while driving.
Also, 60 measures were imposed for not wearing a protective helmet, 2 for driving with tinted windows, 8 for failure to give way to pedestrians, 357 for illegal parking or stopping, and 253 for other violations of the Road Code.
The checks will continue on urban, interurban and rural roads of the county, focusing on drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol or while intoxicated, without a driver’s license, who perform improper overtaking, exceed speed limits, use mobile phones, fail to wear seat belts or protective helmets, and violate other traffic rules.
Shkodra Traffic Police urges drivers to strictly comply with the rules, in order to increase road safety and prevent accidents.
