Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the latest developments following the arrest of the former head of SHISH, describing the situation as an issue requiring immediate attention.

Speaking from Rinas, Rama said that the measure taken against the former head of SHISH was an extreme measure, stressing the importance of the national security institution.
“The developments of recent days following the arrest of the former head of SHISH require immediate attention. It was an extreme measure, considering that we are talking about the exposure of a key institution.
Every reasonable suspicion must be investigated to the end. Every accusation must be proven or dismissed. Any measure restricting the freedom of a person without immunity, imposed by the prosecution, can be challenged only in court and not from the prime minister’s podium,” Rama said.
He also added that respecting the independence of the justice system does not mean remaining silent on matters affecting the state interest.
“These have been and remain the guiding principles of my conduct regarding individual justice cases, for everyone. Respect for the independence of justice does not mean silence,” Rama said.
