The VAT rate on fuel will remain at 10%, compared with the standard rate of 18%, until October 12, 2026. The government has decided to extend the implementation of this measure.

Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Koçoska said the reduction is intended to be reflected directly in retail fuel prices and ease the impact of rising prices on international markets.
“By continuing this measure, we directly affect retail fuel prices and prevent external price pressures from being passed on to other products and services,” Dimitrieska-Koçoska said.
She stressed that the government is monitoring developments in international markets and intervening with measures when it deems necessary, in order to protect citizens’ living standards and maintain the stability of the domestic economy.
When the deadline expires on October 12, it will be reviewed whether the measure should be extended again.
The Ministry of Finance clarified that the general VAT rate is 18%, while the reduced rate of 10% applies to energy products under the tax regulations.
