The implementation of this regime, which is scheduled to continue throughout October, has caused long lines and a buildup of vehicles at the Morinë border crossing.

Citizens have described the return of the checks as unnecessary and called for the procedures to remain the same throughout the year.

To facilitate movement and reduce waiting times, border police have increased the number of counters in Morinë.

The agreement between Albania and Kosovo stipulates that the border-crossing arrangements change depending on the time of year.

Checks are in effect from March 1 to April 30, as well as from October 1 to October 31.

Travel without border checks is permitted from May 1 to September 30 and from November 1 to February 28.

This easing of border crossings applies only to vehicles with Albanian or Kosovo license plates.
