The details were published by Time magazine in an extensive article about Trump’s activities during his second term in the White House. Citing a source within Washington circles, the magazine writes that the president asked Grok how Venezuelan citizens might react if the United States arrested their head of state.
According to the response Trump is believed to have received, a large number of Venezuelans would celebrate Maduro’s removal.
Time reports that the conversations took place during a private meeting between Trump and Musk in the Oval Office in December 2025. In addition to the issue of Venezuela, the president is said to have used Grok for hours to ask questions about his presidency and legacy.
After Maduro was captured by the US military on January 3 and the celebrations that followed, Trump was reportedly impressed by the chatbot’s accurate prediction, the magazine writes.
It is not known whether the answers Trump received from Grok before the operation influenced his decision. The report does not establish whether the chatbot played any role in the president’s position and does not suggest that it was involved in planning the military operation.
