Rama in Luxembourg on Kushner’s project and the arrest of the SHISH chief: The investment will go ahead, the fight against corruption is producing results

Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke in Luxembourg about two issues that have sparked debate in Albania: Jared Kushner’s investment project and the arrest of Vlora Hyseni, the head of SHISH. During a joint press conference following the 10th Albania–European Union Intergovernmental Conference, he said that no one is above the law and that justice is taking action.

Regarding Kushner’s project, Rama invited interested parties to visit Albania to gain a firsthand understanding of its scale and aims, emphasizing that viewing it from a distance can lead to misunderstandings, particularly because of information conveyed in online media.

The prime minister said that this was an initiative that went beyond the investor’s name and that the government aimed to turn it into a model for investment and development in modern times, in harmony with nature.

Rama added that public reactions and protests reported around the world had contributed to improving the project and steering it toward outcomes that, in his view, could convince more people than they did at the beginning. He stressed that the final assessment should be based on the facts and that the work being carried out was expected to be made public.

Responding to a question about the arrest of SHISH chief Vlora Hyseni, Rama said that the country was experiencing a phase in which justice was carrying out its duty. According to him, this development showed that the institutions had begun to function.

The prime minister recalled that Albania was once identified as “the homeland of the culture of impunity,” whereas today, in his view, it ranks among the leading countries, because that culture has come to an end and no one is above the law. He said that the country had moved from a system controlled by corruption to a state that was fighting corruption.
