The vote in favor followed a review of the draft law during the committee meeting.

The aim of this draft law is to improve the legal framework governing the prevention of money laundering and the fight against terrorist financing in Kosovo.

The chairwoman of the European Integration Committee, Jehona Lushaku-Sadriu, called for greater accountability from the institutions implementing the law and the European agenda. She proposed that line ministers and implementing bodies report to the committee.

According to her, committee members share the view that accountability should be increased among law enforcement institutions and those implementing reforms under the European agenda. She stressed that the committee has a supervisory role and urged members to consider subordinate institutions, creating a joint approach to summon line ministers, other implementing institutions and various agencies before the committee.

Lushaku-Sadriu then announced that the committee’s next regular session would be held on Monday morning, during which the work plan would be discussed and approved.

She called on committee members to submit proposals for the work plan, inviting them to gather ideas and initiatives that they would like and believe should be included in it.
