According to her, efforts on this issue must continue until the end, stressing that the freedom fighters will not be abandoned.
Çitaku said that concrete steps were being taken to strengthen the defense of Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi on appeal, with the aim of overturning the verdict. She also mentioned initiatives aimed at defending the KLA and all freedom fighters, calling for serious engagement, dedication and the use of all state capacities.
She recalled that today marks one month since the ruling by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague, which she described as unjust. According to her, this period has been difficult for the four former KLA leaders, their families and everyone who believes that Kosovo’s war for freedom was just.
Çitaku said that for 21 days, citizens protested in the squares against what they considered an injustice. She said the participants were united by the belief that the people who stood by Kosovo during its most difficult days should continue to have the country’s support today.
According to her, the attempt to strike at the KLA has brought it back to the center of the national consciousness, as an indisputable value that unites Kosovo.
The PDK deputy leader reiterated that the freedom fighters would not be left alone at any moment and that support for them would continue until their return home as free men.
