Democratic Party MP Saimir Korreshi said during the protest that the €50 million in funds, which he accused Balluku of stealing, could have changed students’ lives.
According to Korreshi, the country is facing a collapse of the education system, while lecturers are aware of the difficulties students face in Tirana. He said that Prime Minister Edi Rama’s time is up and called for broad participation in Saturday’s protest.

Korreshi described the resistance as admirable and said that the lecturers’ protest had given the gathering another dimension. He also mentioned the 118 people detained at Mine Peza, describing this as part of history and emphasizing the protesters’ high morale.
Saimir Korreshi: This resistance is admirable. At Mine Peza, 118 people were detained, and this shows extremely high morale. It is part of history. The lecturers’ protest has added beauty to the protest. The collapse of institutions can bring change. When the elite comes out and speaks, we must say “stop.” They know that the €50 million which, according to the accusation, Balluku stole from the Llogara Tunnel would have changed students’ lives. Today, the education system is vulnerable; in villages, there are classes with only two students.
He added that the situation in education has worsened and that students in Tirana face numerous difficulties. Korreshi said Saturday would be a special day, with high participation, while he also addressed News24, emphasizing that the media had experienced the pressure and violence of the authorities firsthand.
