Saudi Arabia’s Civil Aviation Authority said the strike on King Fahd International Airport killed one person and injured eight others. Authorities have released no further details about the type of attack or damage to the airport’s infrastructure.
The Saudi Energy Ministry reported the other two deaths and two injuries. The victims were struck by debris from an intercepted drone that, according to preliminary information, is suspected of having targeted an installation in the Shaiba oil field.
Authorities have yet to determine who was behind the attacks. There is also no confirmed information on whether they affected operations at the oil facilities.
Saudi Arabia has also faced repeated attacks attributed to the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The latest strikes have heightened concerns over the protection of the kingdom’s strategic infrastructure, particularly airports and oil industry facilities.
