Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Përparim Gruda, who was part of the team that drafted the amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers, insisted that the legal act has no shortcomings. He made the statement several hours after the PDK called for the law to be returned to the Assembly for reconsideration.
In a Facebook post, Gruda said he supported every part of the law and stressed that everyone who needed to be involved had been consulted during its drafting.

This position differs from the reasoning given by the PDK Parliamentary Group. In its request addressed to President Justina Shiroka-Pula, the party said that returning the law for reconsideration would help complete several provisions and increase legal certainty. The president approved the request and returned the law to the Assembly on Thursday.
Gruda did not openly oppose the PDK’s decision, but said he would have preferred the focus to be on implementing the law rather than reopening the debate. He added that, if the Assembly decides to review it again, the process should be based on legal arguments and aim to preserve the substance of the law.

The law amending the Law on the Specialist Chambers is free of errors. There are none. I am proud of the work carried out together with the team that drafted it and of the fact that everyone who needed to be involved was consulted during the process.
Today, I stand by and will continue until the end to support every letter of this law. I know how much commitment, effort and responsibility have been invested in it.
I would have liked us to be discussing the implementation of the law today, rather than reopening the debate about it. If the Assembly reviews it again, this must be done responsibly, on the basis of legal arguments and with determination to preserve the substance of the law.
I will not give up my conviction, I will not distance myself from the work I have done, and I continue to believe in the purpose for which this law was drafted. The next steps should bring us closer to an independent justice system that protects our just liberation struggle, rather than take us further away from it.
As for the other issues, we will be here and we will talk.
