A shooting in Calabria claimed the life of Silvana Sibarelli, 60, wife of Damiano Pepe. Pepe, 64, was seriously injured. Investigators consider him one of the key figures in organized crime in the Sibari area.
The incident occurred near the couple’s home around midnight in Lattughelle, within the municipality of Cassano all’Ionio, in the province of Cosenza, Italian media report.

After being wounded, Pepe was taken first to the hospital in Corigliano Rossano and then transferred to Cosenza. His condition is reported to be serious; he underwent a complex operation.
