The City of Skopje has launched a major initiative to plant 3,500 saplings in various parts of the city, aiming to increase greenery and restore public green spaces.
Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski announced that the number of new saplings planted will reach 6,000 by the end of the planting season.

“Every new tree is an investment in the city we live in and in our children’s future. More shade on summer days, cleaner air and more green spaces for walking, playing and socializing. We are planting in existing parks, the new parks we are building, green spaces along boulevards and public spaces throughout the city.”
He said the planting would extend to every municipality and neighborhood, reaching all residents of Skopje.
“In every municipality, for every neighborhood, for all residents of Skopje. Every root planted today is a promise of a healthier and more beautiful tomorrow. Let us leave behind trees that will grow, parks that will thrive and achievements that will endure. For a Skopje that breathes. For generations to come,” Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski said.
Gjorgjievski stressed that the commitment to a greener and cleaner Skopje would be demonstrated through action, describing it as one of his priorities.
